Baemin (배민) is the king in Jeju—more restaurants, especially for local specialties like black pork and seafood. Yogiyo (요기요) is simpler, with a cleaner English-friendly interface, but has fewer options on the island. Pro tip: Use Baemin for variety, Yogiyo for quick, no-fuss orders. Both require a Korean phone number and address, so get those sorted first.
Payment Hacks for Foreigners
Cash is king in Jeju, but delivery apps hate it. Link your Korean credit/debit card (e.g., Toss, KB) or use the “현금” (cash) option if you’re brave—drivers rarely carry change. For expats without a Korean bank account, buy a Baemin gift card at a convenience store (GS25, CU) and scan the code in-app. This avoids card rejection nightmares.
Navigating the Menu in English
Most Baemin menus are in Korean, even in Jeju’s tourist zones. Use Papago (not Google Translate) to screenshot and translate. Look for “사이드” (side dishes) or “세트” (set menus) to avoid confusion. Yogiyo has partial English support, but stick to Baemin for Jeju-specific joints like “흑돼지거리” (black pork street) deliveries.
The Brutal Truth
Delivery in Jeju is not like Seoul. Expect longer wait times (40-60 minutes minimum) and higher minimum orders (₩15,000-₩20,000) due to the island’s spread-out geography. Many drivers don’t speak English, so have your address ready in Korean. And never order late at night—most restaurants close by 9 PM outside Jeju City.
